Dr. Mohammad Valipour

Postdocorate Researcher

Dr. Mohammad Valipour joined IRREC in April 2019. Under the auspices of Dr. Sandra Guzmán, Assistant Professor of Agricultural Engineering, Dr. Valipour focuses on the development of new technology for rapid evaluation and recommendations for water management strategies for Florida's food producers. His work involves satellite remote sensing retrievals and machine learning.

Before his appointment at IRREC, Dr. Valipour completed a postdoctoral research position at Auburn University in Alabama. At Auburn, Dr. Valipour evaluated soil moisture dynamics by using satellite remote sensing, land surface models, climate reanalysis, and in situ measurements and interactions with precipitation and evapotranspiration over the entire U.S.

Dr. Valipour's research interests include remote sensing, climate change and variability, soil moisture, evapotranspiration, agricultural water management, irrigation and drainage, hydrometeorology, hydroclimatology, mathematical and computer modeling and optimization, and hydrological forecasting.

Dr. Valipour's academic contributions include publications in books, book chapters, journal articles, and conference proceedings. He serves as an Associate Editor for Canadian Journal of Soil Science, Scientia Agricola, Acta Geophysica, and Simulation.
