What are invasive species?
Invasive species are defined by Executive Order 13112 as species that is nonnative to the ecosystem under consideration and whose introduction causes or is likely to cause economic harm, environmental harm, or harm to human health. To be considered an invasive, a species must be both nonnative and cause or have potential to cause harm. While many nonnative species occur in our ecosystems, only a small portion of them are considered invasive. Learn more about invasive invertebrates.
