    Dr. Xiaoping Xin

    Postdoctoral Research Associate

    Dr. Xiaoping Xin serves as a Postdoctoral Research Associate for Dr. Zhenli He in the IRREC Soil, Water and Ecosystems Science Laboratory. Dr. He is IRREC Associate Director and Professor and Principal Investigator of the Soil, Water and Ecosystems Science Laboratory.

    Dr. Xin joined IRREC in 2015 as a visiting scientist in Dr. He's laboratory. Although Dr. Xin completed a Ph.D. in Soil Science at Southwest University in 2017, in China, she completed a second Ph.D. in Soil and Water Science with the University of Florida at IRREC. Dr. Zhenli He supervised her graduate work and continues to oversee Dr. Xin's duties as as Postdoctoral Research Associate.

    In her doctoral and postdoctoral studies, Dr. Xin developed strong expertise in the research topics of soil, plant, and environment sciences related to:

    • Soil fertility/health and plant nutrient management;
    • Technology-enabled precision agriculture and sustainability;
    • Agro-ecological risk assessment and management.

    Dr. Xin's work for the Soil, Water and Ecosystems Laboratory involves the development, characterization, and evaluation of nanomaterials for application in agriculture and the environment. Along with laboratory team members, colleagues, co-workers at IRREC and research collaborators worldwide, Dr. Xin aims to enhance sandy soils in marginal regions so that nutritious food may be produced on land that had previously been deemed not suitable for crop production.

    Additional responsibilities are to manage research that takes place in the laboratory and mentor visiting scientists, students and visiting scholars.

    Dr. Xin publishes scholarly journal articles in peer reviewed journals related to soil, agriculture, and the environment.
